Mecca Conference Seeks to Build Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought

IQNA – The Muslim World League is organizing a conference aimed at promoting understanding among Islamic schools of thought.  

The Global Conference for Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects planned in Mecca

 

Titled the Global Conference for Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects, it will be launched in the holy city of Mecca on Sunday.

Scholars, muftis, thinkers and personalities from different Islamic countries have been invited to take part in the two-day event, according to the Muslim World League’s website.

Among the speakers at the conference are Abbas Khameyar, the cultural and social deputy of the University of Religions and Sects, and member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi.

The first in its kind, the conference will feature purposeful dialogues to enhance relations among Islamic schools of thought and serve their common objectives.

The participants will seek to foster unified Islamic brotherhood, cooperation and harmony in perspectives on key issues and goals of the Muslim Ummah.

They also discuss confronting speeches, slogans and methods of exclusion based on sects, the website said.

At the end of the conference, they are going to issue a “Charter of Building Bridges between Islamic Sects”.

The crisis in the Gaza Strip, which has been facing a genocidal war for over five months, will also be on the agenda of the conference, with the participants expected to voice solidarity with Gaza and underline support for the formation of an independent Palestinian state with the holy city of al-Quds as its capital.
